Greetings International Dzogchen Community Members,

After nearly 30 years of dedicated service, Loek Jehee, who managed Norbunet, is stepping down. The International Gakyil thanks Loek for his years of dedication and service to the Dzogchen Community.

Due to recent issues with Google blocking Norbunet service, the IG and the Norbunet 2.0 team are exploring alternative platforms for Norbunet and looking for two IDC member volunteers to assume the role of moderators for Norbunet 2.0.

The selected moderators will be responsible for ensuring that all content posted in Norbunet 2.0 aligns with IG guidelines.  The role requires basic computer skills, a solid command of written English, and an understanding of the subtle nuances of communication. This is an important opportunity to help maintain Norbunet as a valuable and effective communication tool for the Dzogchen Community.

Norbunet 2.0 moderators primary tasks:

Moderators will:

  • allow/reject the posting of email messages that are sent to the Norbunet list on a daily basis
  • need on average about 20 minutes per day, occasionally up to 1 hour, to moderate the list
  • schedule the daily moderator tasks together with their team weekly
    add new Norbunet members to the Norbunet list and reject (or ban) members who might abuse the list (spam, malware, viruses, politics, activities contrary to the Teachings)
  • discuss and develop Norbunet moderation policies (ongoing process) in collaboration and agreement with the IG
  • provide technical advice to the members on how to avoid spam filter blockages, removing complex message footers etc.

Requirements:

  • member of the International Dzogchen Community for 10 years
  • preferably having IT experience or as a member of an editorial staff or as a moderator
  • having a good knowledge of the basic principles of collaboration in the IDC as outlined in The Principles and Guidelines for Practitioners and Gakyil Members [“Blue Book”] and having integrated this as a basis in their personal activities.
