Building Pathways
The Lustral Rogation (a five yearly religious ceremony) is a tradition that comes from the XVIII century, following a drought that devastated the town of Adeje. The first official Lustral Visit of the Virgin of the Incarnation to all parts of the borough was held in 2005.
This year, 2015, an intercultural performance was added to the program of masses and processions, as an event called Haciendo Caminos/Building Pathways. The Hindu and Hare Krishna communities and cultural associations from Latin American communities offered their traditional songs and dances paying homage to the Virgin as well as to Adeje and its residents.
Awareness about what immigrants face today when trying to build a new life in other lands brought more emotion to this event and gratitude to Adeje and its people.
