About Us

The Mirror is a news media of the International Dzogchen Community founded by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, an eminent scholar of Tibetan culture and a renowned Dzogchen master. It has been a primary means of inter Community communication since March 1990

Our Community news source, The Mirror, has already been in existence for many years. It is really very important for collaboration and communication among the people of the Dzogchen Community.”

— Chögyal Namkhai Norbu

Since then, many issues have been published, serving not only as an important tool of communication among the members of the Dzogchen Community around the globe, but also as an invaluable archive of, first and foremost, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu’s teachings, travels, and numerous projects worldwide, as well as documentation of the activities of the Gars, Lings, associations and foundations that are part of Rinpoche’s vision.

From its early beginnings as a newspaper, The Mirror has become a full-color magazine published quarterly as a downloadable PDF, free for everyone and a small print run.

The Mirror has also given its name to a website established in 2014 publishing daily news and reports from the Dzogchen Community around the world as well as Rinpoche’s teachings, interviews, reviews and much more. The Mirror website is linked to social media and articles can also be viewed on Facebook and Telegram.

Besides English, you can enjoy our articles in Italian.

The International Dzogchen Community

The International Dzogchen Community (IDC) counts among its members all those who are interested in the practice of Dzogchen as passed on by Namkhai Norbu. The Community is thus seen as a place for people who share the same path towards knowledge.

It has a non-bureaucratic organization, with systems of communication and collaboration which respect the various autonomous local conditions. The community centers (Gars and Lings) are considered places for the practice of awareness where it is possible to collaborate with each other in the perspective of a common spiritual enrichment.

For Namkhai Norbu, the Gars and Lings make up one great mandala, a network that covers the various geographical areas of the world and to which practitioners can refer as places of study or practice and meditation. There are ten Gars and many smaller Lings in various places around the world.

You can find and contact the nearest local IDC center at www.dzogchen.net.
