Dear all,
Our dear Vajra sister Tuula Saarikoski passed away peacefully on July 15 at 2:55 am Finnish time at the age of 84. She was a member of the Dzogchen Community since the early ‘80s and invited Rinpoche for his first visit to Finland in 1981. Tuula was active in the Finnish Dharma scene already before that and has over the years for instance organized HH the Dalai Lama’s visits to Finland.
Tuula was a journalist, author, and translator by profession, and many of us in the Finnish DC first found out about Dzogchen in her books about her encounters with Buddhism and the teachings of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu. Her experience made her an authority we would usually turn to when we had questions about the teachings and practices, and her apartment in central Helsinki used to be our most frequent meeting point for Ganapujas. Tuula’s clarity, energy, and frankness will be tremendously missed.
