Nadia Gaggioli awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (OMRI)
The President of the Italian Republic has awarded our Vajra sister Nadia Gaggioli (Desalling Bologna), Founder and President of the NGO Malati Meniere Insieme, based in Bologna, the honor of Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (OMRI) for the merits acquired in the activity of volunteering and charity in support of people with Meniere’s disease.
The Order of Merit is the first of the orders of the Italian Republic and is intended to “reward merit acquired towards the Nation in the field of literature, the arts, the economy, work carried out in public service, social, philanthropic and humanitarian activities, as well as long and distinguished service in a civilian and military career.”
Rinpoche is very happy about Nadia’s activity serving Meniere’s patients from 1998 and for having founded the Charity Association Malati Meniere Insieme ONLUS, which is the only Italian charity devoted to protect, help and promote activities for Meniere’s disease patients since the Italian welfare and health system does not.
Nadia has suffered from Meniere’s disease from 1984 when she was 29.
ONLUS is the Italian acronym for Charity.
