All the songs that Chögyal Namkhai Norbu carefully selected and included in the three Khaita collections – Message from Tibet, Barsam and Mekhor – touch on themes and values that are important not only for Tibetan culture but for the whole of humanity.
One of these themes is the awareness of the importance of respecting and preserving the environment: one example among many is MfT 6.09, Koryoug bagzog maso – Do not poison the Environment, in the collection Message from Tibet. Preserving the environment in Khaita songs and dances thus becomes an educational tool for raising awareness and evolving people’s consciousness about their ecological relationship with the planet and the consequent responsibility that human beings have for the happiness of all who inhabit it.
As the Khaita team, we have thus begun to collaborate on public events organized around these issues on an international scale, participating in world days.
In June 2025, we participated in World Environment Day (https://www.worldenvironmentday.global/) with an online session of Khaita Forever entirely dedicated to this theme: we selected some songs on the theme, sang them together, analyzed the lyrics, and practiced the mudras (gestures representing the meaning) of the related dances. Here is a short video of the session:
It was a very interesting experience, accompanied by infinite gratitude to Rinpoche for the countless seeds he has planted with foresight over the years.
This is the message of thanks we received from the organization:
On behalf of the United Nations Environment Programme, a heartfelt thanks is extended to you and your team for helping make World Environment Day 2025 truly memorable. The impact of your efforts will resonate far beyond this day – it helps shape how we live with, and care for, our shared planet.

At the end of September, we are preparing a similar event for World River Day
