Sansari: The Goddess and the Corona in the Himalayas
Dear Friends,
We hope you are all in good health. This month we will be celebrating the anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava and Yeshe Tsogyal with a fish release in Nepal. This will take place very soon on 29 July so please make sure you place your orders in advance. Please find details of the release below. We would also like to share a free documentary with you called Sansari: the Goddess and the Corona in the Himalayas, which you can view through this link here.
The Nepalese tradition of worshipping Sansari – the Goddess who can both cause and control epidemic diseases – is still practised in mountain villages in Nepal. In this traditional ritual to protect the village and its inhabitants , she is offered water, flowers, cow butter and the herb, mugwort. Sansari has many characteristics similar to a manifestation of the Tibetan deity Tara, called Ritod Loma Jonma: the Noble Lady Tara of Mountain Retreat who removes Contagious Disease. A brilliant light blazes from her two eyes burning up contagious diseases and the causes of them, and healing sickness. The Dalai Lama has recommended that the praise of Tara in her various forms, is an excellent practice for helping to overcome the problems of our time.
About the Practise:
The practice of Green Tara is one of the main secondary practices that are transmitted by Chogyal Namkhai Norbu. Secondary practices remove obstacles on the path and create favorable conditions for a meaningful life. The practice of Green Tara, the principal form of the various manifestations of Tara, is one of the most important and most universal of such practices.
Tara is regarded as the embodiment of the enlightened accomplishments and healing activities of all Buddhas. Therefore she is called “The Quick Acting One” or “The Quick Helping One”. Her actions have the boundless and unconditional compassion of a mother. She is called the mother of all enlightened beings, because she embodies the ultimate wisdom of the true state of the individual. So who is on the path to enlightenment for the benefit of all beings achieve the qualifications of primordial wisdom and enlightened activities – the so-called siddhis – the fastest and easiest through the practice of Tara.
Even Buddha Shakyamuni, the Blessed One, worshipped Tara in his 21 praises. The recitation or singing of these praises is one of the most important methods to develop the wisdom of Tara. Furthermore 21 action mantras are connected with these verses.

29th July 2020: Fish Release
To Celebrate the Anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava
and Yeshe Tsogyal
In Tibetan this practice is known as ‘tshe thar’, life release. Save the lives of fish awaiting slaughter:
In Tibetan this practice is known as ‘tshe thar’, life release. Here you can buy fish in Nepal. They will be released into environments where they will be able to live undisturbed, such as natural sanctuaries where fishing is prohibited. The fish will be blessed with mantras and given myong grol (liberation through tasting), precious substances that give the animals a good cause for higher future rebirth. It is customary to save a number of animals equal to your age. So for example a 25 year old would save 25 fish. However, you can choose to save any number of animals that you want. Since a human being can commit no greater transgression than taking the life of another living being, by implication, there is no greater source of accumulating merit than saving life.

NOTE: It is especially beneficial to save fish if the astrological aspect relating to one’s life force or ‘sog’ is negative in the current year. This depends on your year of birth.
As advised in the astrological system devised by Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche and found in the Merigar Diary, in this current year those who are particularly advised to save lives are those people born in the following years (beware that the Tibetan lunar year usually starts in February or March so you must check exactly in which year his birth is considered to have taken place in):
1921, 1929, 1930, 1932, 1933, 1941, 1942, 1944, 2945, 1953, 1954, 1956, 1957, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1977, 1978,1980, 1981, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 2001, 2002,2004,2005, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017.
By buying fish you are saving their lives and also contributing to the activities of Shang Shung institute UK. Thank you for your participation!
