Dear Readers,

We are pleased to announce that the September 2024 issue of The Mirror, no.165, is now online and ready for downloading at melong.com and dzogchen.net.

Last month we observed the sixth anniversary of our precious Master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu’s passing. We remember Rinpoche with love and gratitude for his selfless dedication, his compassion, and the invaluable living knowledge he gave to us all.

We honor the memory of the Master sharing his biography, compiled by Adriano Clemente, that was recently published online on The Treasury of Lives site, a biographical encyclopedia of Tibet, Inner Asia, and the Himalayan region.

As usual, we bring you current news and updates from different bodies of the Dzogchen Community, among them – the International Gakyil, Atiyoga Foundation, Shang Shung Publications and Sangha App, as well as the international Gars – Merigar West, Merigar East, Kunsangar South, Kunsangar North, Tsegyalgar East and Dzamling Gar.

MACO Museum of Oriental Art and Culture based in Arcidosso, Italy, presents their rich and vast activities, collaborative projects and technological advances.

Jamyang Oliphant, Eva Leick and Lena Dumcheva describe how Shang Shung UK brought Khaita dance performances and explanatory talks to the International Seminar of Young Tibetologists that took place at Wolfson College, Oxford University.

ASIA Onlus presents their humanitarian projects for children in Italy – small seeds that if watered can generate change in their own area and create a contagious wave of awareness, empathy and kindness in society.

International Yantra Yoga teachers Laura Evangelisti and Fabio Andrico reflect on the origin, development and future of this ancient Tibetan yoga of movement.

Following that you can read about the new app Evolve: Body, Breath, Mind which aims to help people to relax the tensions of daily life and help them breathe in a more natural and efficient way.

Adriana Dal Borgo gives an insight into the Vajra Dance, a profound method for coordinating body movements with sound and music through dance which contributes to mental and physical well-being.

From Dzamling Gar, chief garden architect Alix De Fermor happily announces the completion of the final gardens at the Gar, while Migmar Tsering reports on the work of renewing some of the decorations inside the Gönpa of Merigar West this summer.

Txomin Pascual shares his story of the circumstances that brought him to meet Chögyal Namkhai Norbu.

Finally this issue presents a piece by poet Louise Landes Levi describing how, traditionally, an artist can use his or her tools for their own spiritual growth.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to our graphic artist Thomas Eifler, who will be leaving us after completing issue 165. Thomas has been skilled, patient, very well organized, reliable and creative over the many years we have worked together. There are big shoes to be filled by the next person, but we are hopeful we have found the match. Thank you Thomas!

We hope you enjoy this issue!

With love,

The Mirror team
