A week to set the base for learning the Classical Tibetan Language and to exert yourself in reading, writing, and understanding the texts of the Tibetan tradition. We will have a general introduction to the sacrality, importance, and structure of the language, the lettering system and so forth. Then we will examine the morphology of syllables, word formation and all the main features of the grammar.

The course will be held in English and/or Italian, according to participants. Four hours lectures daily: 10.00-12.00am and 2.00-4.00pm, plus one hour Tibetan calligraphy from 12.00am -1.00pm.

Fees: The first day (August 4th) is a “tasting day” and is for free. Everybody can participate. The complete course costs 65 Euro plus ordinary membership of the Shang Shung Institute Austria for 2014 (50 Euro) with 10% discount on the course fee if you pay before 15 June 2014. It is free for sustaining members of the Shang Shung Institute Austria.
