In July, a very special retreat took place in Phendeling, titled Holidays with Yantra Yoga. This is a regular and much-loved event where parents can come with their children – who are well taken care of during the teaching sessions. Around forty people joined, and the Phendeling garden transformed into a small tent village.
In the mornings, Yantra Yoga sessions were led by Fijalka Sable, a second-level instructor. After the adult practice, there was a short Kumar Kumari session for children. Those who know Fijalka will confirm that she is a skilled, cheerful, and talkative instructor with a big heart. It’s also worth mentioning that she translated all the available Yantra Yoga books into Czech. Her summer teaching covered preparatory exercises, the four Yantras series, and rhythmic breathing. In the afternoons, we danced on the Mandala and repeated the morning Yantra exercises. One evening was dedicated to the Khaita dance.
In the second half of the retreat, Jeff – Fijalka’s husband – joined and shared Respira breathing practices with us. The variety and richness of practice were exceptional and everything flowed in a relaxed and harmonious way.
The Czech sangha is deeply committed to practicing Yantra Yoga throughout the year. This year in Phendeling, teachings were also given by Hona Dolenský and Oni McKinstry, both third-level instructors. We welcome any collaboration and mutual support with nearby communities.
