The new issue commemorates the third anniversary of the parinirvana of our beloved Master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu and celebrates 50 years of the Dzogchen Community that he founded with memories from the Gars around the world.
The issue includes two of Rinpoche’s teachings — Training the Five Capacities (continued from the previous issue) given just before the New Year of 2018 at Dzamling Gar, and What is Dzogchen? — an excerpt from Rinpoche’s book for a wider audience Starting the Evolution, An Introduction to the Ancient Teaching of Dzogchen published by Shang Shung Publications in 2018.
There is a brief presentation of the results of our survey conducted in July to improve and better serve our readership, as well as the steps we are planning based on these results.
We also offer news and updates from the School of Tibetan Medicine, Atiyoga Foundation, Shang Shung Publications, and ASIA Onlus.
The new issue features Drugu Choegyal Rinpoche’s teaching on saving lives and the importance of mercy and compassion, as well as an interview with Menpa Phuntsog Wangmo about Covid-19, vaccines and protecting each other.
‘Focus’ on Forty Years of Merigar marks the stages of development of Merigar West, the first center of the International Dzogchen Community established in Italy, presenting its timeline from 1981-2001.
‘Pictures from the Past’ features several stories — Raimondo Bultrini presents the lecture that the Master gave to young people and teachers at the Institute of Minorities in Chengdu in 1988; Nick Dudka recalls Rinpoche’s first visit to Buryatia in 1992; and Ruslan Malakhovskiy talks about the history of the Minsk Dzogchen Community.
We offer Steven Goodman’s translation of Heart Advice by the Tibetan meditation master Nyakla Changchub Dorje, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu’s root master.
Giorgio Dallorto reviews Drawn and Written in Stone, a new book by John Vincent Bellezza exploring ancient markings on cliffs, caves and boulders that describe the religious history of the highest reaches of the Tibetan plateau.
‘Artists in the Dzogchen Community’ features Nelida Saporiti, Argentinian singer and musician.
