On May 1, on July 24th and on August 6, 2024, we received a notification by Google that the Norbunet group was removed “because of policy violations” (“unwanted content”). Unfortunately, it seemed totally impossible to get any further information from Google on the exact nature of this “unwanted content”. Also, there is no way of communicating with Google. We have in each case directly appealed for a manual review, in the first two cases this was successful after about a week.

So Norbunet now again is suspended for the third time for an indefinite period of time. After 13 years of generously providing Google groups service to our Community for free, unfortunately Google now seems no longer to be a reliable platform for us anymore.

We are now busy finding an alternative solution. However, it is uncertain if or when Norbunet service as a mailing list will return and on what platform. I have written to the International Gakyil and asked them to develop a communication strategy for the Community and to decide upon a follow-up for Norbunet. So the future of Norbunet unfortunately is rather uncertain at this moment.
