As briefly mentioned in the “SSI Report of Activities in 2014” (published by the Mirror and now in distribution through our books shipments) at the end of March 2015 Shang Shung Publications inaugurated its new logistics and distribution center in Castel del Piano.
All our products have been so far stored in three different locations in Merigar, two of those very far from being ideal for keeping our books, located, as they were, in very old and un-refurbished stone buildings (the main one at the ground floor of the Merigar Dormitory).
When we undertook our stock taking during July 2014 we found many books stained and ruined by humidity. This sad discovery, together with the necessity to free the dormitory building, soon to be demolished to make place for a new residence for Rinpoche, accelerated our decision to find a single location to be rented to keep our stock.
We were lucky to find a perfect one in the middle of Castel del Piano, at a very convenient rental price, last December.
Starting from January our Logistics and Distribution Chief in Command, the strong and resourceful Mateusz, completed in a couple of weeks the transfer of all our books and related shelves, with the help of our two gentle giants Kamil and Cvetko, from Merigar 2 to our Castel del Piano warehouse (CDP, in short).
Early in February Mateusz, joined by Luisa, our SSP Customer Service and Sales Assistant, freshly positioned the volumes on the shelves in the new location. The transfer continued in February moving to our new location the rest of the books stored at the Yellow House in Merigar and the working desks, with computers, printers and the like.
Mateusz and Luisa then started working from the new CDP location where all our books will be received from the printers and from where they will be shipped to all our customers around the world.
At the end of another complete stock count, on March the 28th, we celebrated the end of the stock taking and the beginning of our activities in the new location with staff and friends, as shown in the picture taken during the inauguration party.
Two important things are to be noted: individual clients will be able to buy our books directly only through the Merishop in Merigar (inside the Yellow House), while Gars and Lings may collect their orders at CDP.
