TIBETAN DHARMA LANGUAGE FOR BEGINNERS
with Fabian Sanders

A continuation of the first week-end on pronunciation produced last year.  We will discuss word formation, basic structure of the language, grammatical and syntactic connectors, verbs and verbal suffixes, all the way to complex sentences. All grammatical elements will be clarified using examples from Dharma texts and already covered grammar will be re-explained when encountered. This makes the course suitable also for students who just know how to read.

The course is scheduled in 8 weekends (including the previous on the alphabet and pronunciation which you can obtain writing to [email protected]).

Each weekend will have 8 hours plus question time (not included in the recordings) with the following timings:
Saturdays and Sundays
10.00AM-12.00AM
2.00PM-4.00PM  (Italian time)

The first three weekends will be:
APRIL 18-19
MAY  23-24
JUNE 20-21 N.B. If you wish to follow the April weekend and do not know how to read Tibetan, please ask us for the audio video recorded material in order to get ready.

The following four weekends will take place after the summer break.  The cost for the whole course is 400€ (including the previous weekend).

GUIDED TRANSLATION COURSE WITH EXCERPTS FROM THE PRECIOUS VASE

Season 6 with Fabian Sanders

A series of 6, 2-hours online meetings every two weeks from 5-7pm (Italian time) in which we will focus on some parts of the Tibetan text of “The Precious Vase” by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu.
The ‘Precious Vase’, base of the Santi Maha Sangha curriculum, is an ideal text for the study of Tibetan language. It features numerous quotes from a variety of classical texts linked by passages in modern literary Tibetan. The topics discussed are ideal to form an important basic vocabulary of Buddhist terminology.
The winter-spring 2020 schedule will be as follows:
JANUARY 29
FEBRUARY 12 and 27
MARCH 12 and 25
APRIL 8

All lectures will be recorded audio and video recorded and made available to students!

If interested please write to [email protected]

Pease note that this is a Tibetan language course, not a Santi Maha Sangha course. Students need to be able to read Tibetan and must have basic knowledge of Tibetan grammar. The working language is English.
