Dear Vajra family,

We are happy to inform you that The Mirror 152, June 2021, is up online and ready for downloading at melong.online and dzogchen.net.

The new issue contains teachings by Chögyal Namkhai Norbu — The Three Statements of Guru Garab Dorje (continued from the previous issue) given just before the New Year of 2018 at Dzamling Gar, an excerpt from Rinpoche’s book for a wider audience Starting the Evolution, An Introduction to the Ancient Teaching of Dzogchen published by Shang Shung Publications in 2018, and advice to the Dzogchen Community when bringing to a close the 30th Anniversary Celebrations at Merigar West in Tuscany, Italy on July 19, 2011, which is used as an editorial.

There is a webcast talk on the origin and importance of the Song of the Vajra that we use in the Dzogchen Community given by Adriano Clemente at Merigar West, June 4, 2021.

You can also find an update from the International Gakyil on the upcoming General Assembly of the Dzogchen Community, a possibility to make a contribution to the Community donating 2×1000 income tax, and the June 2021 selection for the Rinpoche Retreat Replay Webcast Project.

In the issue we offer news and updates from the School for Tibetan Language and Translation, Atiyoga Foundation, the Vajra Dance Book Project, Shang Shung Publications, the Multimedia Archive of the Dzogchen Community, ASIA Onlus and Sangha App.

MACO Museum of Asian Art and Culture describes its recent collaboration with the British Museum and their ResearchSpace team and a few of the ways that it will be used to help us to share the Namkhai Collection with our Community members around the world.

There is also an interview with Adriana Dal Borgo about the Educational Program of the Khaita Dance School, conducted by Tamara Kozhukharova on May 10, 2021.

In the issue you can access the most recent updates from different Gars around the globe – the new look of the Dzamling Gar Moon Garden, the 40th Anniversary of Merigar West, filling the second Stupa at Merigar East, news from Kunsangar South and Samtengar, glimpses of generous summer at Kunsangar North, reports from Tashigar North, Tashigar South, Tsegyalgar East and Tsegyalgar West.

‘Reflections’ contains The Word and the Master, an article by Fabio Risolo, who deepens the theme of the Masters relationship with the disciple, and the value of his word, also through references to Western culture.

“By loving the disciple the master teaches him to love, making him progressively free, that is, allowing him to recognize his own solar part, the nature of the mind. It is about discovering that we ourselves are the master, the king who creates everything, the Kunjed Gyalpo.”

Following that there is a Paula Barry’s review of The Sound of Metal, the Oscar nominated, Oscar winning film written by Darius and Abraham Marder and directed by Darius Marder, the children of her friends, long time Dzogchen Community members Efrem Marder and Lauri Marder.

‘Artists in the Dzogchen Community’ presents Frederica Henrieta Hegedus’ story, painter and designer of jewelery.

“I am not special; I am just trying to do what makes me happy. Each of us has talent in him or herself, we just need to discover it, relax, and let it have space.”

‘Pictures of the Past’ this issue features two accounts — Origins of Tsegyalgar East by John Foster, and Kundrolling – Place of Total Liberation by Michael Katz and the New York City Dzogchen Community.

Tshering Choden from Bhutan shares her story of her meeting with Rinpoche in the ‘How I Met’ feature.

“For Western people what Rinpoche is teaching is easier. But I grew up boxed in, everything with its own stage, and if you do not do them, you cannot get to Dzogchen. But as I had done all those practices, when Rinpoche spoke about Dzogchen teachings, it was much easier. And then I felt this gratefulness and understood what I had done in the past.”

With love,

The Mirror team
