New Ka-Ter Translation Project
Shang Shung Institute, Austria
Starting in February 2015, the Shang Shung Institute Austria offers special weekend-seminars for everybody who is interested in becoming a translator from Tibetan. The first weekend-course, February 28th – March 1st 2015, is the start of a regular and ongoing initiative within the Ka-Ter Translation Project that will be followed by weekend-courses every 2 months or 6 times per year. The meetings will be held via Skype, so for that reason the number of participants is limited.
Such weekend-courses will be held for intermediate and advanced students.
Advanced level:
The participants will work individually on the translation of the given text between the sessions and their translations will be checked and discussed during the group meetings. The aim is to form students and produce high quality translations, which could be published afterwards.
These trainings will exclusively be available for members of the International Dzogchen Community and for members of the Shang Shung Institute, Austria. The texts that will be worked on in these courses will be announced during the first weekend.
In general, the participants in these trainings will need to prepare their translations beforehand, but not for the first weekend.
Proposed schedule for each weekend-course: 10.00-12.00 and 14.00-17.00 Italian time for both days.
Fee for 6 weekend courses: 120 Euro
Fee for one weekend course: 35 Euro
Intermediate level:
The participants will listen in to the advanced level and compare their reading with the others. Some time will be devoted to them exclusively and the details of the grammar, lexicon and so forth will be explained and questions answered. The aim is to deepen knowledge and understanding of grammar and texts. These trainings will be accessible for all interested people who are members of the Shang Shung Institute, Austria.
