Dear Readers,

The Mirror team sends you all best wishes for a healthy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

In that spirit we bring you the December 2024 issue of The Mirror, no.166, which is now online and ready for downloading at melong.com and dzogchen.net.

In this issue we continue Chögyal Namkhai Norbu’s teaching in Hong Kong, 2012, focussing on the Three Statements of Garab Dorje.

This is followed by Adriano Clemente’s presentation of Rinpoche’s recently published book, The Cuckoo of Rigpa, An Ancient Dunhuang Manuscript, given at Merigar at the end of September.

In this issue ASIA appeals for help for the victims of the severe flooding in Nepal which left thousands of people displaced and outlines the factors that make this area vulnerable to extreme weather.

The MACO Museum and Shang Shung UK present the details of their 2025 tour to the sacred cave of Maratika in Nepal where, among other activities, they are organising an 8 day retreat.

As usual, we bring you current news and updates from different bodies of the Dzogchen Community, among them – the International Gakyil, Atiyoga Foundation, Shang Shung Publications, Shang Shung UK and Sangha App, as well as the international Gars – Merigar West, Merigar East, Kunsangar North and Dzamling Gar.

Oliver Leick who is in charge of the Ka-ter Project writes about how we can deal with difficult external circumstances and keep our minds calm and relaxed.

We present an update and more details on the important Changchub Dorje 108 Stupa Project being carried forward by the Dynamic Space of the Elements team guided by Migmar Tsering. The project is based on a terma of Changchub Dorje to build 108 different Stupas to avoid the problem of war and harmonize conflict between the inner and outer elements that manifests as natural disasters.

Participants Peter White and Dhammika Pereira-Marland write about their challenging and rewarding experiences of participating in the various courses that are part of the Khaita Educational Program over a two year period.

We recall the life and work of Nina Robinson, known by many in the Dzogchen Community for her study and guidance of the Mandarava Longlife practice, who sadly passed away in late September this year.

In this issue Paora Te Oti Takarangi Joseph from New Zealand tells the story of how he met Chögyal Namkhai Norbu.

Finally we are very happy to publish the work of one of the original editors of The Mirror, John Shane, who shares his article and poem, True Value, On the Loss of a Beloved Child.

For quicker access to our updates, please join our channels in Telegram – in English and in Russian.

Our thanks go to graphic artist Paolo Fassoli for stepping in to put this issue together quickly and beautifully at the last moment.

We hope you enjoy the issue!

With love,

The Mirror team
